NewClin, located in Lyon, France, is one of the 10 European healthech startups selected by the EIT Health in 2000 for their leading acceleration program (mentored by the prestigious CIMIT, Boston). We are 100% devoted to the non-medical determinants of health: our social circumstances, our individual behavior, and our physical environment. These factors are major health determinants: according to the public health experts, non-medical determinants account for 2/3 of one’s health over his/her life. The remaining 1/3 – the medical determinants of health – comprise our genetic and biological profile and the medical care we receive. Medical and non-medical determinants of health constitute together our Health Determinome, a key component of any true precision care and precision clinical research strategy.

We have BUILT aN unPARALLED non-medical determinants of health knowledge base

It took us several years, but it was worth the effort! Our collection of evidence-based non-medical determinants of health and validated questionnaires in the field is unique due to its completeness. It allows us to offer a comprehensive and dynamic catalogue of non-medical determinants of health and to develop new risk and prognostic scores in order to predict and monitor their impact on care or clinical research at patient, cohort or community levels. We also leverage the potential of artificial intelligence to study new relationships between health data, treatment or study outcomes and non-medical determinants of health to generate new performance digital markers and surrogate endpoints.

WE DEVELOP and commercialize A GAME-CHANGING B2B PLATFORM TO GENERATE PATIENTS’ HEALTH DETERMINOME (TM)

Our unique SaaS solution is designed to identify and characterize patients’ social, behavioral and environmental determinants of health and automatically contextualize in real-time their health data. A key end-product is the patient’s Health DeterminomeTM, representing all factors at risk of interference with the disease, the treatment, its effects or its study. The closest proxy to a digital twin, it enables new insights for care and clinical research management. Thanks to best-in-class datavisualization, the system combines all the data into a user-friendly dashboard to support better informed decisions.

WE ARE WORKING ON PROJECTS TO OPTIMIZE CARE AND CLINICAL RESEARCH PERFORMANCE

NewClin is collaborating with industry, healthcare providers, academic organizations, and patient associations for first projects. Our goal is to improve the medical and economic efficiency of clinical research as well as the patient’s healthcare care journey. Our initial focus is oncology, but our solution is applicable to other therapeutic fields and prevention projects.

WE CARE about patients on earth and… in space

NewClin was selected in 2020 by the European Space Agency to codevelop, with MEDES (the Space Clinic, cofounded by France’s Space Agency and Toulouse Hospitals) and a SME, the prototype of another intelligent decision support system: the Crew Health Integrated Management System (CHIMS). Such platform, under construction, aims at allowing astronauts to manage their health in autonomy during future Space missions, including during medical emergency situations. NewClin is the architect and developer of the solution.

And NewClin was recently selected by CNES (France’s Space Agency) and AP-HP (Greater Paris Public Hospitals) to develop, leveraging our PRECIVIZ platform, the Spationaut’s Health Digital Twin. The objective is to develop a functional twin based on the spationaut’s Derterminome of Health, that will help better assessing risks, support health-related decisions and develop counter-measures before, during and after manned missions. What will be learnt from this specific field will serve the ground applications of PRECIVIZ in a larger population.
